Hey I’m Rachel!
Who I am
I’m a law graduate and voluntary Board Member (Chief Relationships & Partnering Officer) for a not for profit, with 15+ years in business development and work-winning, including 10+ in bid management. I’m focused on the future of work, helping people understand how AI is reshaping roles, skills, and career paths, and how to thrive through the shift. In 2024 I delivered a workshop at the Career Development Institute’s National Careers Leaders Conference.
Law to Leadership
I graduated with a law degree from the University of Leeds and began my career in the legal field, then pivoted into business development via a graduate scheme at an environmental services company, progressing into bid management early on.
Over the last decade I have specialised in leading and winning multi-million-pound bids across startups, SMEs, and global organisations in sectors including software and hardware development, edtech, payments, transport, civil engineering, aviation, IT, professional services, and AI and Data Science. Along the way I’ve built and embedded new bid processes, led teams, and coordinated complex pursuits with multi-disciplinary stakeholders.
I have also mentored young students and professionals, helping the next generation build confident, sustainable careers. Along the way, I’ve also launched and developed various business ventures and founded my first business in 2013.
Experience
Today, I work in a business development role, focusing on bid management and building and maintaining strategic partnerships and alliances at an AI consultancy, which gives me daily exposure to real-world AI projects and how they’re changing organisations, roles, and skills. I am also studying part-time for an MBA with an Artificial Intelligence specialism, using that broader lens to explore how AI is transforming work, career development, and the paths people can take through their working lives.
Founder of Xplorient
Alongside this, I am the founder of Xplorient which builds career intelligence products to help people navigate the AI era.
The Thread That Connects It All
Across everything I do, the connection is simple: I care about how people will work, grow, and thrive in an AI-driven world, and I’m building practical tools, experiences, and strategies to help them get ready for that future now, not later.
